  • The 1984 San Marino Grand Prix was the fourth race of the 1984 Formula One Season. It was held at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari, Imola on May 6th 1984. The race was won from the front row by McLaren-TAG driver Alain Prost with the Ferrari of René Arnoux in second. Elio de Angelis was classified in third despite running out of fuel on the final lap. Both Tyrrell drivers finished in the top ten, but were subsequently disqualified due to technical infringements by the team. Polesitter, Nelson Piquet, had been running in a strong podium position until a Turbo failure forced the World Champion to retire twelve laps from the end.

The race was won from the front row by McLaren-TAG driver Alain Prost with the Ferrari of René Arnoux in second. Elio de Angelis was classified in third despite running out of fuel on the final lap. Both Tyrrell drivers finished in the top ten, but were subsequently disqualified due to technical infringements by the team. Polesitter, Nelson Piquet, had been running in a strong podium position until a Turbo failure forced the World Champion to retire twelve laps from the end. The result allowed Prost to extend his Drivers' Championship lead over Derek Warwick to eleven points, with Arnoux and De Angelis a further three adrift. McLaren-TAG also extended their Constructors' Championship lead over Ferrari to 14 points.
