La prima apparizione pubblica dei Mr. Bungle risale ancora al liceo, quando suonarono durante un'autogestione e Michelino salì sul palco venendo trasportato su di una carriola per muratori. La parte più bella dello spettacolo fu quando una compagna di scuola si denudò per disperazione. Da allora lui odia le donne, infime e stupide ladre di pubblico! La band in quel periodo suonava un genere definito da Scaruffi: afro-bongo-death-merdal (Scamarcio lo definì "uuuuuuhaaaaaaaa"). Un giorno, il chitarrista di una band californiana fancazzista decise che tra un cantante alcolizzato, drogato e persino meticcio e un pazzo idiota travestito da buffone di corte, che però faceva scena, valeva la pena i giocarsi la seconda carta e Michelino entrò a far parte dei Faith No More. La leggenda narra che scrisse tutti i testi e incise le linee vocali del loro primo album insieme (The Real Thing ... "La cosa vera") in sette giorni. In realtà ci vollero solo sei giorni e il settimo Dio si riposò, trombandosi la tastiera della band.
