Anderson played junior hockey in his hometown of Moncton and also saw some action with the Fredericton Red Wings and Halifax Canadiens. He then played for the Boston University Terriers. He turned pro in 1972 and was rookie of the year with the Boston Braves of the American Hockey League. After the 1974-75 season Anderson played in the minor pros. In 1976 he went to Europe and spent one season in Austria and one in Germany. He retired in 1978.
