While the Five Great Shinobi Nations were once devastated by the war, they have since rebuilt and lived in perfect harmony after being forced to sign an international peace treaty issued by the Land of Iron. There were some losses that, in the hearts of the shinobi, will never be recovered. Over time, their hearts have healed, but that one hole will never be replaced. In the present day, all the Shinobi countries are now more technologically advanced and have avoided war for nearly a century. Now, recent actions by evil shinobi who are affiliated with an evil organization threaten to disrupt the peace and harmony that several shinobi and civilians have come to enjoy. Akatsuki seemed a distant memory. For many people, it has now become a reality. Missing-nin, considered outcasts and brutally killed on sight by hunter-nin, are now forcing people to lock their doors and turn all of their lights off. What was once a active metropolis has been reduced to a ghost town. Shinobi are now starting to disappear from their homes without a trace, the public's fear that they are being brainwashed. Fellow Shinobi countries who once had a bustling trade with each other are slowly becoming hostile toward each other. Shinobi from other countries have begun to attack other shinobi regardless of origin or rank, causing defenseless, innocent ninja to be killed.
