Some of the islands belong to the United States of America and others to the United Kingdom. The Virgin Islands were originally Volcanic but limestone had formed over the volcanic rocks. Most of the land mass is within a few hundred feet of sea level though there are some higher peaks. Hurricanes happen there from August to October and mild Earthquake also happen. For fresh Water the islanders are almost entirely dependent on Rain water and desalination. The Spanish Killed or drove out most of the original inhabitants. Today most islanders are descended from African Slaves and most are Protestant.
