At the age of 15 she entered the ring and was the standout champion in several categories consequtively for the next six years. She had earnt enough winnings to almost buy her freedom when she was unfortunate enough to see and hear something she shouldn't have. A secret that threatened a partnership of some of the more ruthless Criminal entities on Malastaire. Before they could come for her or arrange her death as an 'accident' in the arena she escaped and fled to the nearest starport. With no money and nothing to trade but her body to a disgusting captain she eventually secured passage offworld to Ryloth. She honoured her end of the bargain for the duration of the trip, and when they reached Ryloth the Captain decided that he wanted to keep the woman who had so well pleased him during the trip. Refusing to be enslaved again by anyone, let alone this pig of a man she was forced to kill him to get off the ship. When local authorities investigated they were wary, but her story along with the unto undiscovered fact that the man had been a Imperial spy ended all investigation, this combined with her testimony about the working of the Criminal element on Malistaire guaranteed her a new life, free and with a new identity. The newly minted Jadara Koracen eventually secured employment aboard a cargo freighter, as she figured that with her past a moving target was the hardest to find let alone hit. Her new ship the Bellaraphon with a kindly old man, Romar as it's Captain. These people would over the next five years come to be the closest thing she would ever know to a family. This was not to last as one of their charters was to ship a quiet elderly man who turned out to be a Jedi Knight. Within moments of being near Jadara he could feel her brimming and yet disciplined potential with the Force. After a quiet chat with the Captain who explained matters to Jadara. She eventually and after much raging at the unfairness of the universe ended up on Yavin 8. Outside the gates that lead to the Jedi Temple. She was unhappy about having to leave her adopted family, but curious as to the possibilities that being a Jedi could offer.Family
Jadara was originally born with the birth name Yalena to her parents Anadara(nee Habian) and Jamis Koracen. She was the youngest of five children and because her parents were poor she was sold to the fighting pits on Malastaire at the tender ages of three. She has a bare memory of her mother, just the slightest impression of being held and that's it. She has no memories of her father or her siblings. After her escape from Malistaire the Crime Lords had her family executed in retaliation for her testimony. To her knowledge, she has no biological family remaining. She considers the freighter captain Romar Ellistair and the crew of the Bellaraphon who took her in prior to her discovery as a Force Sensitive as a kind of surrogate family.
