| abstract | - Clarence Richard "Dick" Behling (born March 16, 1916 in Kitchener, Ontario) is a former professional hockey defenceman that played for the Detroit Red Wings in the NHL. He played junior hockey for his hometown Kitchener Greenshirts from 1934 to 1936. He then played for the Baltimore Orioles and Britain's Harringay Greyhounds. In 1939-40 he was with the Detroit Holzbaugh Ford and that caught the attention of the Detroit Red Wings. He signed with the Wings that October and played with both Detroit and the Indianapolis Capitals from 1940 to 1943. Behling played 5 games with the Wings, scoring one goal, and won the Calder Cup with the Capitals in 1941-42. Behling served in the Canadian military from 1943 to 1945 during World War II. After the war he played one season for Indianapolis in 1945-46 and one with the senior Hamilton Patricias in 1946-47. He then returned to his hometown to play four seasons with the Kitchener-Waterloo Dutchmen and retired in 1951.
