Most of the time, he is in his human diguise, but when he gets too excited about something he reverts to pig form. He is a friend to the Grimms and accompanies them on their trip to Faerie. While in New York City, Hamstead met Bess, The Cow that Jumped Over the Moon for whom he developed romantic feelings during his stay. While he was there, he fought over Bess with a fairy godfather named Tony Fats. After he won, Hamstead decided to stay with Bess in New York City. Before the Grimms go back to Ferryport Landing, he gives Daphne a key to a bank deposit box that contains the North Wind for the purpose of stopping the Wolf if Mr. Canis ever lost control of him. He was also the sheriff in Ferryport Landing when Sabrina and Daphne first moved into the town. The other two pigs were also police officers until they started a construction company. He meets the Grimm girls when Mayor William Charming sends him to go pick them up to prevent them from getting hurt (they run away from him when they find out he is working with Charming). Hamstead is unemployed from that job when Mayor Charming loses his re-election bid to the Queen of Hearts, who subsquently replaces Sherrif Hamstead with the Sherrif of Nottingham.
