Synopsis
  • Hawkeye is disturbed over his philosophical argument with Bobbi as to whether it is allowable in certain circumstances to take the lives of their foes. Their argument has led to their breakup and Hawkeye gives the servants the day off so that he can be alone. Meanwhile, Tyrannus in the Abomination's body has escaped transport to the Vault and wishes revenge against Wonder Man so he makes his way to West Coast Avenger's compound. Hawkeye hears the security measures activate and so goes to confront the Abomination. After shooting the monster with his most powerful explosive arrow with little effect Hawkeye realizes he must lead Abomination deeper into the compound to where he has stored an Adamantium arrow in the event Ultron attacks. Abomination pursues Hawkeye who uses trick arrows to stay one step ahead of him until he reaches the Adamantium arrow. Tyrannus reads Hawkeye's mind and thinks he is bluffing about his threat to kill him, but is unsure after probing deeper and seeing Hawkeye really does desire his death at a primitive level. Hawkeye shoots the arrow at Abomination's feet and the monster gloats thinking he has misjudged Hawkeye. He grabs the arrow intending to use it on the archer, but his telepathic probe missed the detail that the arrow is designed to give off an electric burst strong enough to short-circuit Ultron. As Hawkeye prepares to call in the Vault to pick up the unconscious Abomination, he realizes the battle has settled his doubts about his argument with Bobbi. His choice to uphold his principle not to take life, even under test, is what makes him a man instead of an animal. He hopes that Bobbi, one day, will see that too.
