  • This blinding light renders all who behold it (even from a distance) incapable of movement, as the powerful Genjutsu overloads their brains and rends them vegetative instantly. Simultaneously, a low chant is heard emanating from the Buddha; carrying throughout the entire target area, capturing those who escaped from the first stage of the Genjutsu in another Genjutsu which also disables their senses and ability to form thought; an attack utilising sound waves. The sound waves impact the victim(s) negatively, stimulating the portion of their brains associated with inducing fear (the amygdala), overpowering them with extreme, overpowering feelings of fear—even if they do not witness anything in their mental scape.

abstract
The combination of the two simultaneous Genjutsu will knock out all those surrounding the statue, who fail to escape from the technique; or prepare a suitable defence beforehand. Because of the power of the Genjutsu, breaking free from it is basically impossible: it affects the brain so severely that thought cannot be even formed. The only way to actually counter the Ascending Buddha is to not get caught in the technique in the first place; neutralising the two ways in which the statue carries out its two pronged attack. Victims are usually left unconscious for at least a few days to a week, depending on their own strength, and are usually left with impaired memory and disrupted cognitive function for the next month or so.
