  • While not appearing physically or having any statistics inside the data, there is a text string of Baselard suggesting that at one point during development that this weapon was planned to appear in the 3D remake as a dagger.
  • The Baselard (バゼラード Bazerādo) is a Knife that is exclusive to Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. As the SS-ranked constituent of its weapon class, the Baselard is the strongest amongst its counterparts. Unlike other SS-ranked weapons (with the exception of Laguz Strikes), the Baselard offers no boosts to its wielder's stats.
  • The Baselard is a sword featured in Dark Cloud and Dark Cloud 2. In the former it is one of Toan's possible weapons, while it is one of Monica Raybrandt's weapons in the latter. It is one of the few beginner weapons that cannot be build up from anything and must instead be either bought or found. It is relatively common in treasure chests in Dark Cloud, whereas in Dark Cloud 2 it only appears in the Rainbow Butterfly Wood. Milane's Weapon Shop also sells the weapon when she opens it.
  • The Baselard, also Basilard has its name probably from the swiss town Basel and is also called swiss dagger (Schweizerdegen).
  • In modern use by antiquarians, the term baselard is mostly reserved for a type of 14th century dagger with an I-shaped handle which evolved out of the 13th-century knightly dagger. Contemporary usage was less consequent, and the term in Middle French and Middle English could probably be applied to a wider class of large dagger. The term (in many spelling variants) first appears in the first half of the 14th century. There is evidence that the term baselard is in origin a Middle French or Medieval Latin corruption of the German basler [messer] "Basel knife".

abstract
  • While not appearing physically or having any statistics inside the data, there is a text string of Baselard suggesting that at one point during development that this weapon was planned to appear in the 3D remake as a dagger.

Both the term baselard and the large dagger with H-shaped hilt or "baselard proper" appear by the mid 14th century. Several 14th-century attestations from France gloss the term as coutel "knife".
  • The Baselard (バゼラード Bazerādo) is a Knife that is exclusive to Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. As the SS-ranked constituent of its weapon class, the Baselard is the strongest amongst its counterparts.
