abstract
  • The CALICO Active Deviation Array was a type of United Nations Space Command Naval countermeasure system. CALICO utilized a series of separate countermeasures to ensure a higher level of security. These included: * A number of heat-generating flare launchers to confuse starfighter pilots and distract heat seeking ordinance, though the latter application is rarely employed as most missiles are computer guided. * Dozens of deployable, inflatable "decoys" that can confuse RADAR and other sensor systems into thinking that there are more vessels than there actually are. * An experimental "data scrambler system" that is able to "hack" into the guidance systems of incoming missiles and boarding craft. In situations where it can break through the firewall, it can disable and possibly even redirect the ordinance.
