  • The Coruscant Revolution, commonly called the Coruscant Uprising, was a revolt of Coruscanti citizens against the Galactic Federation Triumvirate government. It was caused largely by discontent with the deteriorating situation throughout the galaxy, including the capitol world itself. Those issues included poverty, famine, war, and abuse of power by the government, which was largely viewed by that point to be led by aristocrats. A series of conflicts against the One Sith Remnant, mainly in the Outer Rim Territories, was causing the Triumvirate Military to take heavy casualties, and eventually nearly destroyed it. This resulted in many soldiers and police joining the revolutionaries.

abstract
It originally began with a protest of 500—600 people in front of the Senate Building. As the CSF arrived, the protest attracted more and more people, with help from members of a reformist political party known as the Constitutional Revolutionaries. The numbers of the protestors rose to 8,000 in two days, as popular discontent with the regime was widespread. The rioters attempted to Storm the Senate Building, only to be beaten by CSF policemen. In response, another attempt was made, as the protestor numbers swelled to 13,000. The CSF began firing into the crowed after members of the nationalist Zhell Party began beating policemen. The shots killed several people, and the protestors, even angrier, overran the CSF lines, nearing the main entrance of the Building. Quickly over the next several days, large protests began occurring in other parts of the city. The underworld was essentially in anarchy in about a few days. It was estimated that at least 478 million residents eventually joined into the uprising, which became a revolution. The Senate Building was stormed, though the two Triumvirs had left (the third, representing the New Jedi Order, stayed neutral). The recently formed security service of the Triumvirate, the "Triumvir Guard" (widely viewed as a political police), was called in. It was no tip enough, military was deployed, and in about nine days after the beginning of the protests, battles broke out. However, thousands of troops and police defected to the protestors. The vocal politician and revolutionary Marx Kaminsky was seen as the leader of the protestors. The Triumvirs (Marasiah Fel and Gar Stazi) refused to give up, trying to "preserve the Triumvirate at all costs". Fel gave a widely-broadcasted speech about unity and stability, while Stazi commanded the pro-government forces. However, a month later, in the first few days of 218 ABY, the final government troops had surrendered, and Stazi was captured. Fel fled to the former Empire-in-exile holdings in the Outer Rim. Kaminsky and his Constitutional Revolutionaries established the Coruscant provisional government a day later from the Senate Building.
