The BPA won with a slim majority. The party also gained a Senate seat. It was his wife, Lucy Lansbury-Turnbull who was elected to the Senate in a tight race. Lansbury-Turnbull won by only 24 votes. On April 20, 2669, Turnbull announced his intention to resign as leader following a leadership election.
