  • It is passed to a staff member when they are given a difficult assignment, so as to "Give someone The Shaft". It has been around since the pre-Marathon days. In Halo 3, the Marines will often yell, "Give 'em the shaft!" or, "We totally gave them the shaft!"
  • The Shaft was a Minecraft podcast hosted by Brent Copeland, along with AfroMunkee (episodes 161-204), Eric Fullerton (1-188), GuudeBoulderfist (188-222), Maz (ExtremeBeyond) (162-222), Freckles (218-222), and Wes Wilson (1-159, then 200-222), but the hosts were regularly interchanging. The Shaft was discontinued after 5 years of the show on its 222nd episode and was the final Dead Workers Party Podcast to be discontinued. The final show featured all current and former hosts of the show (excluding Afromunkee) and was the longest episode of the show, at an hour and 49 minutes.
  • The Shaft an Island paradise is located in the South Pacific. We are a devout nation who worships Cho the goddess who inhabits The Shaft. Population at the moment is about 12,000,000 We are a consumer driven nation. The new administration of The Shaft is a more progressive group of citizens who want to become members of the global community. They have promised to root out corruption of the Basket Weavers Union who has had a stranglehold on The Shafts economy for many years. The Government of htz3 has started the process. Htz3 has also mentioned that he will increase civil liberties after he has propped up the economy. Religion: Cho and the Shaft Our people are not indigenous to our tropical paradise. Our people came from a warrior nation. Our fore fathers left seeking peace and found our island. About 40 people in all set out on this quest for peace. Once the island was found our fathers forged for food. One of the leaders of the community Rigvar was foraging and a monsoon hit the Island. Rigvar sought cover from the storm and according to the legend found an underground cave. In the cave he fell into a shaft where he came upon what appeared to be a hag. The Hag seemed to be hurt and after Rigvar had helped her there was a bright light and the hag transformed into a beautiful goddess. She Told Rigvar that she would watch over the people and protect them if they would worship her. She also showed him that the shaft was filled with gold ore. Rigvar somehow made it back to the village, which of course is now our capital city of Hwayyitput, sick and nearly dead he told them of Cho. There have been many who have sought to find The Shaft. None has fond it many have found death while looking. We still have an ancient law that whom ever finds The Shaft will become ruler of the land.
