He played Junior "B" for his hometown Listowel Cyclones. Bloemberg was drafted 93rd overall in the 1986 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Rangers while playing junior hockey for the North Bay Trappers. Bloemberg turned pro with the Denver Rangers in 1987-88 and stayed in the New York system for five years. He only saw action in 43 NHL games in that span, the only NHL action that he saw in his career. In 1992 he was chosen by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 1992 NHL Expansion Draft but was quickly traded to the Edmonton Oilers where he was relegated to the minors. Free agent signings by the Hartford Whalers and the Detroit Red Wings did not result in any NHL games, either. Bloemberg went to Germany and spent a season with the Berlin Capitals (1997-98) and one with the Revier Lions (1998-99). He retired in 1999. He played forty-three career NHL games, scoring three goals and six assists for nine points. He also played seven career playoff games, tabulating three assists.
