He was the son of Adrianus I, and after the death of his father, he succeeded to the throne at the age of thirty-five and ruled until his death. Ptolemy III was known for rebuilding the Pantheon, was a humanist, and regarded among the best men to ever rule Diadochia. During his reign, Ptolemy III travelled to nearly every province of the Empire. An ardent admirer of Elláda, he sought to make Athenais the cultural capital of the Empire and ordered the construction of many opulent temples throughout the city. He spent extensive amounts of time with the military; wearing military attire, dining and even sleeping amongst the soldiers. He ordered rigorous military training and even made use of false attack reports to always keep the army alert.
