He returned to the WHA the follwoing season, scoring 23 goals and 19 assists with the Cincinnati Stingers.

He is the older brother of Dennis Sobchuk. Sobchuk was the head coach of the junior Weyburn Red Wings in 1979-80 and 1980-81.
