  • The 1949-01 was the inaugural NASCAR event as the Strictly Stock Series, which is now known as Sprint Cup, raced at Charlotte Speedway on June 19, 1949. Glenn Dunnaway won the event, but an illegal part on his car led to his disqualification and the victory for Jim Roper, his only victory.
