  • “American Who” is a podcast created, produced and hosted by Joey Reynolds, in support of the British science fiction television series “Doctor Who” and its related programmes. The podcast came out of an idea in 2003 to create a website to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the series’ broadcast in America on Public Television. In addition to featuring comments and reminisces of the early days of “Doctor Who” fandom, it would also feature archived interviews with individuals from the first 26 years of the series run.

The concept of the website changed with the announcement in September, 2003 of the series’ return by the BBC. From there, “American Who” became a podcast, with an interview with an actor or a production member from the classic series as the focal point of each program. Since the success of the series’ return, “American Who” has also featured interviews with actors and others related to the new series of “Doctor Who.” Interviews featured on “American Who” have been with lead actors Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker, Peter Davison, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy. Other notable figures include producers Verity Lambert, Barry Letts and John Nathan-Turner; writers Paul Cornell, Gary Russell and Terrance Dicks; actors Carole Ann Ford, Elisabeth Sladen, Maureen O’Brien, Sophie Aldred, Peter Purves and Noel Clarke; interviews with fans and authors on the series, and new series music composer Murray Gold.
