The song speaks, in native Swahili, how the return of the true king will return the Pride Lands. Till then they must keep hope, they must fight and they must not forget that they will win. Most of all they must be proud of who they are, and their beautiful homeland in Africa.

- "One By One" is a song written by Lebo M first featured on the Rhythm of the Pride Lands CD. The song was later used to open the second act of The Lion King on Broadway. The song was used for an animated short for an unproduced Fantasia movie that was eventually cancelled. So, it was used as a bonus feature attached with the 2004 DVD release of The Lion King II: Simba's Pride.

The album gave the Foo Fighters their first UK #1 album and also gave them a #3 peak in the U.S. As of June 2005, One By One had sold 1.2 million units in the United States. However, lead singer Dave Grohl has stated that it is his least favourite album: "I was kinda pissed at myself for the last record... four of the songs were good, and the other seven I never played again in my life. We rushed into it, and we rushed out of it." This album was the second Foo Fighters album to have a song reach the top of the Modern Rock Tracks chart, with "All My Life". The title One By One was taken from first single "All My Life".
