| abstract | - the messenger from Vindale is a neutral NPC that is one of the two Elea that rescue the player character at the beginning of the game. He walks the player through a short tutorial of the game, including item interaction and combat. Lomias will later show up occasionally in Party Time! quests. He carries the Bow of Vinderre, and will sometimes drop the secret experience of Lomias (a 25% chance). While nuking your cave before finishing the tutorial is a possible way to get the Bow of Vinderre, it is far from necessary, as you will likely see him in Party Time! events with some regularity. If you don't mind failing a few quests, as well as losing Fame and possibly lowering your Will or Charisma by doing so, you can get your revenge for Lomias' smugness on multiple occasions. It is, in fact, possible to get his Bow of Vinderre multiple times; Since it is a precious item, picking up an additional copy of the bow will cause the new bow you acquire to become a different and completely randomized bow (either a long bow or short bow) of miracle quality and with a chance of even being made of superior materials. Since the original Bow of Vinderre has the Draw Shadow special ability, which teleports the targeted NPCs to you (which, in turn, is something most rangers wouldn't want to happen, especially if they're trying to shoot an adamantium golem from a safe distance), this can be a good way to farm artifact-level bows rather reliably as soon as you are capable of killing a single level 20 character - well before you are capable of handling dungeons that would give you weapons like that.
