They are considered lucky in Egypt and have been for millennia; so many carved, sculpted and metal scarab beetles have been made over the years to bring luck to owners. Tutankhamun's tomb contained many beautiful scarabs made from Gold and decorated with precious stones (and also with a special type of glass found only in one part of the Sahara desert, called silica glass. A Halo Scarab is made out of a unknown type of high strength purple metal, All Covenant vehicles are made from a purple or dark blue type of metal, said to be much more advanced than any alloy known to Humans, the Scarabs in Halo 3 are controlled by Lekgolo colonies placed inside the Scarab, they join with the Scarab and can control it, much like the Hunters. Halo 2 Scarabs are a lighter colour, unable to be destroyed ingame, and controlled by a driver.
