| abstract | - Tracing their origins back to before the War of the Ancients, the Starbreeze family were among those of the warrior class who fought back against the Highborne. Despite suffering as many casualties as most Kaldorei households, they were not badly scattered in the ensuing cataclysm. The family regrouped in Ashenvale forest, in the northern reaches that would later become Darkshore. In the following years they continued to rebuild, both males and females of the family contributing to society as warriors and craftsmen. As the Kaldorei armies (and later sentinels) became more professionalised, it became a family tradition to serve for at least a decade, but many family members became career soldiers. Although several sentinel members of the family participated in the battle at Mount Hyjal, the majority in Auberdine were too far away to join in the defense of the world tree.
