  • The Greater Empire of Japan was Japan and her Asian colonies, reaching a peak in 1946. From 1894 to 1945, Japan gradually expanded her influence over mainland Asia and Pacific islands, eventually controlling from Papua New Guinea to the Sea of Okhotsk in the North Pacific. Greater Japan's greatest period of growth was during WWII, when, aided by Nazi Germany, Japan conquered massive areas of China, South-East Asia, and the Pacific. Following the Peace Treaty between the Chinese Nationalists and the Japanese Government, the Japanese began to focus on consolidating their spoils--namely, breaking the natives and ending the Guerrilla Wars endlessly waged along the borders. In 1950, Japan would expend critical numbers of men and weapons in a botched invasion of the Soviet Union, allowing the revolts across her massive empire begin to force small measures of independence.
