  • Allen Adkins (March 29, 1929 - ) is a former NASCAR driver from Tulare, Ca. In a stellar Sprint Cup Series career, Adkins competed in fourteen starts with eight top-tens. Adkins' debut came in 1954, when he competed at Oakland. It was a solid outing for the driver, completing all but one lap in route to an absolutely impressive third place finish. He quickly proved it was no fluke, finishing 4th at Bay Meadows. Adkins followed that up with a solid showing during the early 1955 season. In his first two starts of the year, Adkins drove to more solid top-five runs: a 5th at Phoenix and then a career-best 2nd place run at Tuscon after leading 79 laps. However, after that Adkins fell off a bit, finishing 12th and 16th in two other starts that year. Adkins' busiest year was in 1956 when he finished 42nd in points. The year was again a very solid effort by Adkins. He finished in the top-ten three times and only finished worse than 13th once - a 34th place run at the grand Southern 500. Adkins' top-tens featured a season best 5th place run at Lancaster as well as a 6th at Langhorne and a 7th at North Wilkesboro. Adkins' final two races came in the 1957 season, when he started the year back off in the East at North Wilkesboro Speedway. He ran well there, grabbing his final top-ten with a 6th place run. He then ended his career with a 13th at Sacramento.
