  • Developer mode is a mode that can be invoked via the command-line switch (-devparm) in Vanilla Doom. When developer mode is activated, pressing F1 captures a screenshot to disk in PCX format. This replaces the help screen that normally appears when F1 is pressed. Furthermore, a set of dots appear at the bottom-left of the screen which can be used to determine the frame rate, using the formula 35 / (number of dots).
  • To create a Devmode shortcut, find a shortcut to Halo Custom Edition and copy it. Then, right click the new shortcut's icon, and select Properties. A text field labeled "Target" will have the value "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition\haloce.exe"; change this to read "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition\haloce.exe" -console -devmode. To load Halo Custom Edition with Devmode enabled, simply open the new shortcut.

To load Halo Custom Edition with Devmode enabled, simply open the new shortcut. It should be noted that, as of the latest version, online play is disabled while in devmode — only the option to create a LAN game is available in the multiplayer menu. For this reason, it is probably not of much use for anything other than testing purposes.
