  • Irvine Bell Frew (August 16, 1907 – April 2, 1995) was a professional ice hockey defenceman who played 3 seasons in the National Hockey League for the Montreal Maroons, St. Louis Eagles and Montreal Canadiens. He was born in Kilsyth, Scotland but grew up in Calgary, Alberta. Frew split the 1933-34 season between the Maroons and the Quebec Castors and then was traded to the St. Louis Eagles, with whom he played all of the 1934-35 season. When the Eagles folded in 1935, Frew was claimed by the Montreal Canadiens. He appeared in 18 games with the Canadiens in 1935-36, his last in the NHL.

He was born in Kilsyth, Scotland but grew up in Calgary, Alberta. He played junior hockey for the Calgary Canadians and won the Memorial Cup in 1926. Frew turned pro with the Calgary Tigers in the Prairie Hockey League in 1926-27 and then headed east. He played six seasons of minor pro hockey (four with the Cleveland Indians before being picked up as a free agent by the Montreal Maroons in 1933. Frew split the 1933-34 season between the Maroons and the Quebec Castors and then was traded to the St. Louis Eagles, with whom he played all of the 1934-35 season. When the Eagles folded in 1935, Frew was claimed by the Montreal Canadiens. He appeared in 18 games with the Canadiens in 1935-36, his last in the NHL. He continued to play minor pro hockey until 1941 when he retired. In 96 NHL games, Frew scored 2 goals and 5 assists.
