Founded under the control of a Sith emperor that restored the title of "Sith'ari" for himself to differentiate himself from the Dark Lords and emperors of times past, the Holy Sith Empire was considered to be the "pure" incarnation of what the Sith were suppose to be. Waging war against the rest of the galaxy, the Holy Sith Empire initiated the galaxy-wide conflict known as the Thousand-Year Darkness, which lasted in varying intensities from 550 ABY through to 1,550 ABY. The Holy Sith Empire ultimately collapsed when the Jedi Order launched a desperate attack on Korriban, defeating and slaying the Sith'ari in the process. The remnants of the Holy Sith Empire reformed into several unstable incarnations following its destruction, the end result of which finally saw the formation of the Sith Hegemony and the rise of the Sith Kings in the stead of a single emperor or Dark Lord.
