The pistol is mechanically identical to the standard M6L, using the same 12.7mm ammo in 8 or 12 round magazines and using the same, simple, reliable and rugged recoil operation. It utilizes a locked breech, short recoil action were locking was achieved by tilting barrel, with single lug engaging ejection window in the slide. Unlocking was controlled by cam-shaped slot in the lug below the chamber of the barrel, which interacted with the slide stop axis pin. It features a magazine release button above the trigger and a safety selector switch behind the grip, along with a grip encompassing hand/trigger guard. It uses a double action only trigger, removing the need for a hammer. The modifications to the weapon are much less ostentatious compared to other Angel Arms creations such as the Angel Arm Special 33, Angel Arm Cutlass, and the Angel Arm Kaiju Special. This is because when asked by his former squadron mates what sort of features he'd like in a sidearm, he stated it shouldn't have anything that made it to noticeable at a distance, to decrease the threat of being targeted by enemy assassins when working near the front lines. The only piece of precious metal on the pistol is a ring of five silver stars, the symbol of a general of the air force, on the left side of the grip. These are located in a position so that they would be hidden behind the holster and Ross' thigh when holstered, making their tell-tale glint invisible to snipers. The pistol also has a small painted carving of the symbol of Ross East's personal emblem, the red bear claw, painted on the other side of the grip. There is a picture of an F/A 712 Scimitar Multirole Fighter, the aircraft Ross flew during the Human-Covenant War. Finally, on the right side of the receiver, the words "Five Star General Ross East" are laser-engraved, while the engraving on the left side reads "Supreme Commander of the UNSC Air Force".
