| abstract | - The Blood Souls were a pirate group operating south of the Black Star Confederacy. They commanded a decent-sized fleet of old ships and sub-standard fighters, yet still posed a threat to the power balance in the area. The Blood Souls were led by Tjermon Kale, a former Confederate Navy Captain who defected in 7 ABY. His command ensured that the pirates largely stayed away from Confederate shipping, in order to avoid incurring Confederate wrath. Nevertheless, they lost several systems to Confederate aggression prior to 16 ABY. The Blood Souls were headquartered in the Scaro system, but maintained minor bases in several other systems, including the Dunmere and Tyrell systems. The group were decimated and eventually disbanded in a relatively brief campaign in 14 ABY, when Confederate forces attacked their holdings and brought the entire area into the Confederacy proper. Only a few of the leaders, including Kale, managed to escape.
