  • D-Day Normandy a Quake II modification made by ViperSoft. It has a variety of teams, hundreds of maps, TrueSight for weapons (no crosshair, you aim in metal sights) and best of all, it's free and can be played without Quake II (look for D-Day Standalone) The last official version is 4.1, however there are numerous third-party server DLLs (such as SHAEF).

D-Day Normandy is no longer being officially worked on, however the community continues to grow and expand upon what the ViperSoft team created. The community now keeps D-Day alive, for the latest community maps, modifications, and links, please visit the DDC forums. The best way to start is to download D-Day 4.1 full install from the DDC site. It is fairly big, but you will get all neccessary files, and you won't miss anything in the game. You can also introduce yourself to the forum on DDC. The official site had a forum, but it got broken and it was never properly restored.
