  • Haggard Wulf (also known as Haggard Wülf) is an American folk punk band from Morgantown, WV. Formed in 2009, they are a 2-piece band consisting of drummer/vocalist "Leeroy Jenkins" (Mike Kulina) and guitarist/vocalist "Frank Gunner" (Chris Shuttlesworth). Their style incorporates a mixture of folk, blues, rockabilly and punk rock. They hold the DIY ethic in high regard, similar to early 80's punk and hardcore bands - having complete control over their music, promotion and merchandise, while making flyers, CD's and booking their own shows. Their first material released was "The 'Nuff Said Demos" in June, 2010. It was limited to 100 copies in both CD and digital download format. These home recorded demos were given away at shows, mainly for promotion. Most of these songs were re-recorded for the debut LP "Those Who Cried Wulf", which was recorded and mixed by Mark Poole at Zone 8 Recording Studios in Granville, WV in September, 2011. It was self-released in October, 2011 on the band's own label 'Nuff Said Records. They were invited to submit covers of Daniel Johnston's music for a tribute to Daniel in conjunction with Blast Gallery in Teaneck, NJ who hosted Daniel's art exhibit in December, 2011. The band recorded 3 songs: "Devil Town", "Wicked World" and "Don't Play Cards With Satan" which were aired during the event and streamed online. These recordings were also released as the "Devil Johnston EP", notably for the song title selection and film title "The Devil and Daniel Johnston." Since then, they have recorded a Christmas themed EP and released a live album. They have been focusing on live shows and touring during 2012. They have opened for well-known acts such as The Murder Junkies, Joe Buck Yourself, The Hooten Hallers, The Jam Messengers, The Living Deads, Shivering Timbers and others. During local shows, they usually share the stage with similar artists such as The Stalnaker Brothers, J Marinelli, Captain Catfeesh, and Slate Dump. Live sets almost always include a few covers such as The Misfits, Black Sabbath, The Doors and other influential bands. During the remainder of 2012, the band will focus on touring and playing local shows, in addition to the upcoming "Mourningside EP" and a split 7" with The Stalnaker Brothers.
