  • Terry Schoonover(December 26, 1951-November 11, 1984, born in New Lebanon, Ohio) was a former racecar driver. While not much about his early life is known, it had always been Schoonover's dream to run in the premier NASCAR circuit. He accomplished this goal in 1984, when he made his Winston Cup debut at Rockingham Speedway, driving his own #42 Chevrolet home to a 21st place finish. The next race, at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Schoonover was driving when on lap 129, Schoonver spun and struck a dirt bank on the back straightaway of the track. Sadly, Schoonover did not survive the accident. He was 32 years old. His death the first fatality at the Atlanta track's existence.
