  • Mr. Andra Hines (b. Andra Philander Hines 1964 in Hudson, NY) Raised in Detroit "Motor City" Michigan, Andra grew up surrounded by Musical Legends that inspired him to explore his own talents and creativity as a Musician and Producer...With Motown Studios right down the street it was not out of the ordinary to see the Temptations, Aretha Franklin, The Supremes, Smokey Robinson and a host of others walking around town... Andra spent many days in the basement of "Queen Funk" - Mallia Franklin's house watching the P-Funk crew, The Spinners and The Dramatics rehearse and do their thing...(In fact Ron Banks ended up as Andra's vocal coach!)This exposure to such incredibly talented Musicians inspired Andra to pick up an instrument and learn to play... In 1983 after performing locally in several Bands - Andra hooked up with a local Musician by the name of "Cory Blake" - Cory and Andra formed the duo known as "BLAKE & HINES" and shortly thereafter they signed with MOTOWN RECORDS in Los Angeles... BLAKE & HINES debut album spawned the popular singles "Sherry" and "Road Dog"... BLAKE & HINES then went on to sign with Larry Blackmon's Label...Andra spent time with Larry Blackmon learning the actual Business of Music - which inspired Andra to leave Blake & Hines, return to Detroit and start his own Label "J&J Records", distributed by BellMark/CEMA. (Founded by Al Bell) In 1989 Andra then joined forces with his younger brother a popular Detroit D.J. by the name of DUNCAN HINES- who was part of the popular Rap Group "Detroit's Most Wanted - and together they formed the Production Team known as 'The Hines Brothers". "THE HINES. BROS" soon became some of the most sought after Producers and went on to work with a variety of well known Artists including: HAMMER, AARON HALL, RALPH TRESVANT (of New Edition), EL DEBARGE, BRETT MICHAELS (Of Poison) and many others... After relocating to the Bay Area in 1992 to work as one of two exclusive Production Teams for HAMMER'S Label "Roll Wit It Entertainment", "THE HINES BROS" spent the next three years producing Music for Hammer as well as several Artist's on his Label. In 1996 Andra moved to Los Angeles area where he and his Brother (Duncan Hines), started a new Label and Production company by the name of "HB MUSIC. They were able to land a Distribution Deal with Navarre and shortly thereafter released Two Albums on HB MUSIC - (Big Fellas & Da Booty Snatchaz). Andra has continued to produce music with other artists and began creating music on a variety of projects for T.V. and Film. As his music catalog grew he closed a deal with "Allen Ett Music Group" to license his Music for T.V. and Film. Today Andra's music can be heard playing in the background of numerous T.V. Shows, Specials and a number of Films. Home Company About Us Contact Us Artist Production
