  • The movement was established by the Jedi Knight, Revan, in 3,929 BrS, when he entered the Mandalorian Wars with many of the Jedi Order's youngest members, who also believed in Revan's cause, defying the Jedi Council's mandate of non-Jedi involvement in the conflict. The organization originated with Revan's discovery of the Mandalorian's genocide of the Cathar people. This revelation gave Revan a huge boost in support from many younger Jedi, and the Jedi Council—though they did not give the Revanchists their full support—allowed Revan to organize his followers under the banner of a Republic Mercy Corps, leading the Council to officially sanction the Jedi Order's participation in the Mandalorian Wars. Throughout the duration of the war, the Revanchists, who had also become known as the Jedi Crusaders, under the leadership of Revan and his friend and fellow Jedi Knight, Malak, ultimately led the Republic to victory in numerous battles. In 3,925 BrS, the Jedi ultimately defeated the Mandalorians at the war's final battle at Malachor V. However, most of the Revanchists that were not killed in the battle fell to the dark side of the Force over the course of the next year. These Jedi followed Revan and Malak, now the new Dark Lords of the Sith, under their newly-forged Sith Empire. The two Sith Lords declared war on the Jedi Council and the Republic, initiating the Jedi Civil War. Three years later, Darth Malak was defeated by Revan, who had redeemed himself, and Malak's Sith Empire was mortally splintered at Rakata Prime.
