| abstract | - Throughout the tumultuous history of Volvar and its peoples, great dynasties have risen and fallen. Much of Volvar's cultural history is tied to the pride and strength associated with the Great Houses of Volvar. Some Great Houses have fallen into ruin, while others are stained by the bloodshed required to keep their House name alive in the harsh landscape of the northern continent. With historical ties to the settlement of Volvar, many of the Great Houses are regarded as sleeping behemoths of myth and folklore headed by ruthless leaders dedicated to the survival of their name. The Volvarian people regard the Great Houses with much respect, as their names alone carry a tremendous weight.
