The Musgroves did not mourn him very much, but heard about him later when Captain Wentworth, Dick's old commanding officer, came to stay at Kellynch Hall with his sister and brother-in-law in 1813. Mrs. Musgrove mourned him a little, saying that Dick must be different by now if he had survived. Anne Elliot thought this was wishful thinking, but did not say so, instead choosing to lend Mrs. Musgrove an attentive and supportive ear.
