  • A transwarp signature was a detectable energy phenomenon created by the use of the transwarp conduits utilized by the Borg. In 2373, when it became apparent that they were approaching Borg space, Harry Kim, operations officer on the USS Voyager, configured the ship's long-range sensors to scan for transwarp signatures, so as to provide an early warning system for the approach of Borg vessels. A short time later, Kim detected such signatures when fifteen Borg cubes approached the Voyager. (VOY: "Scorpion")

(VOY: "Scorpion") In 2374, while still in Borg space, long-range sensors picked up residual transwarp signatures of Borg vessels three days old. (VOY: "The Gift") In 2375, Captain Janeway ordered a class 5 probe to scan for transwarp signatures from a Borg sphere, which had Seven of Nine onboard. Subsequently, the Delta Flyer was able to detect that sphere's transwarp signature. Later, when the Delta Flyer and the Borg Queen's vessel approached the Voyager, the ship detected their transwarp signatures and the approach of a transwarp conduit. (VOY: "Dark Frontier")
