  • Where to get blood from your dog: 1. Some people use the vein which runs along the outside of the ear. Warming the ear first by massaging it can be helpful. 2. Others use the underside of the dogs top lip. I had no success from that. Perhaps because I thought it was painful to him and didn't stick him hard enough. :(3. I found that getting blood from the 'carpal' pad (which is above the dogs foot pads) is the easiest. The carpal pad is not as sensitive as the foot pads and is what the dog uses when climbing over rough terrain.
