  • The flag of the United Governorates of Bellinsgauzenia is a tricolor of purple, blue, and green; with a single white star located off center. The tricolor gains its origins in the early 20th century as a flag associated with the Antarctic Cossacks. The tricolor became widely used by the Russian Antarctic soldiers of the 1920s during their fight against communism and British expansion. The white star was added shortly after the formation of Bellinsgauzenia to represent the new nations loyalty to the White movement. According to folklore, the green field represents the Antarctic taigas, the blue represents the Antarctic lakes and Southern Ocean, and purple represents either the twilight skies or the auroras. Due to Bellinsgauzenia's continental and regional influence, the tricolor (in particular the color purple) has become a de facto symbol for Antarctica.
