Biography
  • Jeff Hawkins is a former NASCAR driver from Greenville, SC. He competed in nine Sprint Cup Series events in his career, earning two top-tens. Hawkins made his initial foray into the sport during the 1965 season, when he started off by making the prestigious Daytona 500. Hawkins barely made it into the race, starting last and even then only making it to 33rd by day's end. After a 19th place finish at Greenville , Hawkins continued to struggle. Three DNFs in the final four races during his season hurt Hawkins, leaving him 28th at Bristol and 30th at Charlotte - two of the biggest races during the year. His brightest start during the season was the lone race that he was running at the finish for, a 13th place showing at Columbia. Hawkins only ran both Greenville races during the 1966 season, but it turned out to be a great decision. He was solid in the April race, qualifying in eighth and completing all but eight laps in the race to secure a career-best fifth place finish. He also seemed destined for another possible top-five in the June race, but late issues with the differential left Hawkins in 9th, which was still a good effort. Hawkins' last career start came during the 1968 season, when he made his final series laps around Greenville. It didn't end the way Hawkins wanted, with mid-race ignition issues sidelining him to 15th. External Links *Stats
