FastMed Urgent Care is headquartered in Clayton, North Carolina and also has an administrative office in Gilbert, Arizona. FastMed operates and owns 38 urgent care facilities in Arizona and North Carolina and will have 46 at the end of 2012. FastMed employs over 400 people ranging from nurse practitioners, physician assistants and family physicians. History FastMed’s first clinic was opened in Garner, NC in 2001 and was known as Wake Urgent Care. The clinic’s founders operated with a patient care focused model which was applied to every subsequent center. From 2001 to 2010 the network grew from 1 to 9 centers under the direction of Urgent Cares of America, the predecessor to FastMed Urgent Care. In 2010 Urgent Cares of America was purchased by the Comvest Group, a private equity firm based in West Palm Beach, Fla. In 2011, Urgent Cares of America purchased Urgent Care Express, a network of five centers operating in Arizona. In April of 2011 all 14 clinics were rebranded as the FastMed Urgent Care network.
