He later worked as a day player on the films Deja Vu (with Bruce Greenwood), Reign Over Me (with Jonathan Banks and John de Lancie), and Freedom Writers (with Tim Halligan). In addition, Dean had a lead role in the independent features The Law of Diminishing Returns and Beyond the 5000. He was also seen in the 2008 sports drama Chasing 3000, with Seymour Cassel and Lori Petty. In addition to Star Trek, Dean's other upcoming films include The Ugly Truth and Angels & Demons. For television, Dean has appeared on The Bernie Mac Show (in an episode with Wade Williams) and the CBS series Cold Case (with Deborah May). He will soon be seen on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, along with Wallace Langham and Star Trek co-star Michelle Lenhardt. James A. Contner directed Dean in the upcoming made-for-TV movie Ladies of the House. Dean has also worked on numerous commercials, public service announcements, and promos, including a DVD international promo for the hit 2004 film Spider-Man 2. He has several stage credits, as well, including a production of The Dutchman and several stand-up comedy acts.
