  • The Krafayis were large creatures with reptilian and bird-like traits. They had parrot-like beaks, quill-like horns, two wattles on the sides of their heads, long necks and quills down their tail. The Krafayis were generally invisible, giving them the perfect defence. They could be seen by Vincent van Gogh, apparently due to his unique perception of the world, and in the reflection in a mirror on the species matcher. (TV: Vincent and the Doctor) They could also be seen in other reflections, such as in water. (PROSE: Blind Fury)
  • Krafayis are a species of space-faring omnivorous predators. Krafayis are believed to be an ancient species. Legends say that in the Old Times of Gallifrey, a Krafaysis attacked the village of Slothe, killing many people. A Gallifreyan, Presus, eventually confronted the Krafayis and after three days of fighting, the Krafaysis was killed. At some point before 1890, a pack of Krafayis came to Earth, fed and left. One blind Krafaysis was left behind in France, where it attacked several people. It was also seen by Vincent van Gogh and painted into The Church at Auvers.
  • Invisible except under a few circumstances, Krafayis are fairly large quadrupeds with a beaked mouth, a crest of quills on the head and another set of long quills running from the end of their backs to the tip of their tails. Their limbs are armed with long claws and they engage in knuckle walking, similar to Earth's anteaters, presumably to minimize damage to their front claws. They seek planets with a nitrogen/oxygen based atmosphere, indicating an aerobic metabolism.

They seek planets with a nitrogen/oxygen based atmosphere, indicating an aerobic metabolism. Their most notable feature is their invisibility, although they apparently become visible on at least some kinds of mirrors or other reflective surfaces. The only known individual who was capable of seeing Krafayis without a mirror was painter Vincent Van Gogh. It is implied that his unique view of the natural world may have been the cause of his ability to see what nobody else saw, indicating that the invisibility of the Krafayis might be based on psychological, rather than physical, principles.
