- The Ered Lómin were a range of mountains that formed the northwestern edge of Hithlum in Beleriand. Ered Lómin is bordered on its east and southeastern side by the lands of Lammoth and Losgar. Hidden in this mountain range is Cirith Ninniach, and it is guarded by the Gate of the Ñoldor which is further up the cliff. The mountain range joins the Ered Wethrin in southern Dor-lómin.

Es ist unklar, woher der Name Ered Lómin stammt. Möglichweise kam er durch den Schrei Morgoths, der über das Fjord von Drengist, mit der Riesenspinne Ungoliant, nach Mittelerde zurückkehrte. Eine andere, wesentlich einfachere Erklärung wäre, dass die Berge lediglich machtvolle Echos produzierten, was sicherlich in ihrer Natur läge.
