He kept his past hidden and refused to open up about any personal matters. There is not anybody who knew how old he was, and he preferred to keep it that way. He was known as a very wise person and knew more about the Force than most people. His formal name was best known for his years with the Jedi; however, he disappeared from the order when the High Council determined his unorthodox teachings to be hazardous to students. Deven had a very grey personality about him. While no one was aware of it, he had spent many years with both the Sith and the Jedi. Neither side of the Force was dominant within him or directed his personality. However, he realized that his experiences could corrupt not only his teaching process but those around him as well. He left society behind and became a hermit. He chose the Ossus wilderness and inhabited a cave that was distant from any society. He meant to remain there for his entire life and would not accept any company except his past student Cyril Ahlen Khan.
