In 1992, he served as defensive backs coach for the Houston Cougars football, University of Houston. Coach Warren later became head coach for Cohen High School in New Orleans, LA. In addition, he received his bachelor's degree from Southern University of New Orleans in May 2004. James Warren was a mentor and motivator for his students and student athletes at the school. Warren had three children. He had two daughters (one resides in Gulfport, MS and the other in Atlanta, GA) and three sons (one resides in Hammond, LA, Baton Rouge, LA and Miami, FL). Warren also had seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
