Tailan Noth was seemingly killed in a duel with his rival on Dantooine. However, Noth survived. He escaped Dantooine, barely clinging to life eventually finding his way to the planet Mortis. There, he was contacted by the spirit of the ancient sith lord Darth Azaroht. Neyhos sensed his anger and hatred and decided to make him his emissary. Azaroht christened Tailan Darth Rhagos and commanded him to prepare the galaxy for his return. The Ancient Sith Lord revealed to his new apprentice that Nolan Hawke was his heir and was destined become Neyhos' vessel.
