  • Amphion was a star in the antimatter universe, and occupied the same space as the Beta Niobe supernova in the normal universe. While Beta Niobe was dying, Amphion was just beginning its life as a star. The combination of a dying star and star being born in the two universes, as well as occupying the same space, served as a gateway and allowed the USS Enterprise to cross over into the antimatter universe. It had also allowed Karla Five to cross from the antimatter universe into the normal universe. (TAS episode: "The Counter-Clock Incident")
  • In 2270, Karla Five, from Arret, was investigating the dead star. She got caught unaware as Amphion went nova and came to life and pulled her ship into the star. Instead of burning up, she passed through the Beta Niobe nova, into the prime universe where everything operated in reverse to her universe. She hypothesized that two stars going nova at the same time in both universes created a gateway, through which ships could pass through. (TAS: "The Counter-Clock Incident") According to StarTrek.com, Amphion was an example of a "white hole".
  • There are several characters named Amphion (Ancient Greek: Ἀμφίων) in Greek mythology: * Amphion, son of Zeus and Antiope, and twin brother of Zethus (see Amphion and Zethus). Together they are famous for building Thebes. Amphion married Niobe, and killed himself after the loss of his wife and children (the Niobids) at the hands of Apollo and Artemis. Diodorus Siculus calls Chloris his daughter, but the other accounts of her parentage identify her father as another Amphion, the ruler of Minyan Orchomenus (see below). * Amphion, son of Iasus and Persephone (a mortal woman, not the wife of Hades). This Amphion is an obscure character, said to be a king of the Minyans of Orchomenus, in Boeotia. * Amphion, son of Hyperasius; he and his brother Asterius were Argonauts. * Amphion t
  • Amphion was a great as well as, according to Hercules, reckless warrior. He fought in many battles with Hercules and Iolaus. His final campaign was the Siege of Carthage where men under his command killed women and children against his orders. He felt extreme guilt because he had been unable to stop it and ultimately renounced his path to become a holy man of peace. Sometime later, Alcmene and Jason chose Amphion to officiate at their wedding. He and Lea were honoured guests at the event (HTLJ "The Wedding of Alcmene").

Later, Amphion settled in Plurabus where he preached about peace. There, he fell in love with Lea. Amphion's peaceful philosophies were not to the liking of Traicus. Traicus killed Tallus and Shira and framed Amphion for the crime so that he could be executed. Amphion was reluctant to defend himself because he felt he deserved punishment for not being able to stop the massacre at the Siege of Carthage. Luckily, Hercules and Iolaus found the Sword of Veracity which proved Amphion's innocence and Traicus' guilt. Amphion and Lea were then married (HTLJ "The Sword of Veracity"). Sometime later, Alcmene and Jason chose Amphion to officiate at their wedding. He and Lea were honoured guests at the event (HTLJ "The Wedding of Alcmene").
